Darío Hérguer / Darío Hernández Guerra is a visual artist born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain) in 2001.
He lived in Santa Cruz de Tenerife –where his main studio is located– until 2019, when he moved to Madrid. In 2025, he began his doctoral research on the theory of painting within the PhD Program in Artistic, Literary, and Cultural Studies at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. During this research process, he joined the research group Evil and Creativity at the same institution.
In addition, he holds a Master’s degree in Contemporary Art History and Visual Culture from the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2025), as well as Bachelor’s degrees in Philosophy and Political Science from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2024).
His artistic work has been exhibited in solo shows both in Canarias and Madrid, most notably with the project Sobre la carne, en el vacío, selected by the Government of the Canary Islands and the Centro de Arte La Regenta to be exhibited at the Sala de Arte Contemporáneo (SAC) of the Government of the Canary Islands (2026).
Likewise, his critical and theoretical practice includes collaborations with institutions such as the Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno (CAAM), the Research Center of the Museo Reina Sofía, the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid, and the Ateneo de Madrid, among others.
Taken as a whole, his trajectory outlines a field of plastic and conceptual research in which painting appears as a foundational principle of differentiated human existence.
